How To Make Your House Smell Good

Are you looking to make your house smell good and make the neighbours jealous? As an experienced Chandler, I am often asked which candle scent will get rid of bad odours or how to get rid of dog smells.

A candle aroma will change a room and can create a mood such as an uplifting aroma like our lemongrass and ginger-scented candle.

We make exceptional scented candles but for you to capture the aroma a clean fresh area will always give you the best results.

It's important firstly that the house is clean. Masking smells or having smells mixed together can be rather unpleasant.

Clean to make everything fresh

1. Clean any used dishes, this will remove any leftover odours coming from leftover foods. One particular smell I am not fond of is leftover grease which has been absorbed into the air.

2. Empty the bin. Leftover trash can allow a pungent smell in the air. If the bin itself is dirty then wash the bin also.

3. Let the fresh air in. If you find the home has become musty and needs a good freshen-up, open the windows. Let new air in and the old escape.

4. Change the bedding. Regular bedding changes will keep the bedroom smelling fresh.

5. Clean any toilet areas.

6. Vaccum the home and I recommend emptying the vacuum. If you find vacuuming has its own musty smell, then I add a bit of fragrance to the bag by putting a cotton ball with fragrance inside.

WAX MELTS

Wax Melts have become increasingly popular. Add one chunk onto the burner or two chunks if you prefer a stronger scent to your wax burner. (Always make sure the wax burner is the right size for the melted wax or it could spill over)

Light a tea light and voila! The aroma will develop as the wax melts.

Wax Melts are also perfect for those that only want a scent burning for a little while. As you can extinguish the tea light and just re-light it when you want without it being affected in any way. As with a candle you need to ensure you allow the candle to burn for 2-3 hours at a time which will give you an even melt pool to prevent tunneling.

REED DIFFUSERS

I absolutely love reed diffusers as all I have to do is turn the reeds on a regular basis for a constant scent. These are perfect for adding scents into areas. Many Students or retirement homes do not allow candles. This way you can add your own personal scent into a room without going against any rules.
